Square Box

Did you used to watch {Willo the Wisp}?  I loved that cartoon!!!

Moving on to the present, I have been watching some good TV programmes that I cant wait to come back.

Firstly, I have really enjoyed {Victoria}.  I enjoy historical programmes, my favourites being {Lark Rise to Candleford} and {The House of Elliot}.  I liked the costumes and even if not completely accurate, I feel like I am getting a little bit of a history lesson.

Next up, I have been watching my autumn favourite, {Strictly Come Dancing}.  There are a few that are already fabulous.  I love all of the costumes and the glitz.  Lifes too short not to have a bit of glamour.

And finally, {My Kitchen Rules UK}.  I loved the Australian programme of this and now it has come to the UK.  Is it wrong of me to think that the Australians made food that looked better and is more likely what I would choose in a restaurant?  Dont shoot me, its true...

I am looking forward to the next installment of {Fortitude} in January!  Stanley Tucci was excellent in the last series.  Its a bit gory for me sometimes but I still seem to like it?

Of course there is also The Walking Dead.  Come on 24th October!  woo hoo

Have you been watching anything that you think I should?

Dont forget you still have another day to vote on the read a long book choice for October.  Voting buttons are on the top right side bar.  Vote, vote, VOTE!!!!!

Off to watch Willo the Wisp on YouTube now. The only thing I watch on t.v. at the moment is Bake off and Cold Feet. Nothing much t.v. wise appeals to me just now. X

Not a single one of all those TV progs you've mentioned have I seen, even by 'accident'. Obviously there's a whole gamut of life I'm missing out on. ;-)

What about Outlander? Apart from Victoria, we don't get the other ones you mention - yet. Probably only surface here in 5 - 10 years time...

Hey Ray, let me open up the world of watching TV! Bwah ha ha!!! Victoria is a particular highlight of this year.

Hello Dani, Ive not heard about Outlander... I will have to look that one up. Thank you! Lark Rise to Candleford finished in 2011. The house of elliot is really old. ummm I think it was in the 90'S! lol

We have the same tv taste. Very excited about Walking Dead spoiler alert it just better not be Glen! Didn't Stanley Tucci die at the end of the last season?

Have you been watching the repeat of Angleby, Fortitude is repeated straight afterwards. Not as good, but I am enjoying it.

But what I really cant wait for is Game of Thrones!

I wish we got more english programmes. We do get lots of english language shows, as in amercian, but they are not quite the same. I do enjoy CSI and Major Crimes and that sort of thing, though Criminal Minds is a bit too distressing for me. I have read Lark Rise tO Candleford and loved the book. We got Downton Abbey but it was usually on at football time so I didn't see many episodes. Loved The Durrells, set in Corfu, and Hercule Poirot.

Hi Debdor, it better not be GLEN!!! Yep Stanley died but it was still fab. Isnt Dennis Quiad in the new one? Ohhh look I found a trailer

I havent really been into Game of Thrones. I watched a few at the beginning and then I have seen a few since but I am not grabbed by it so much.

Hi Linda, OH YESSSSS the Durrells, that was good but I think we arent getting that again are we? You see people seem to want reality tv. Which really isnt my thing. I had thought about doing the Lark Rise books at some point! Watch this space.

Willy Dunne Wooters and I watched The Man In The High Castle on Amazon Prime. I think it might be available in the U.K. It's a science fiction show with an alternate reality; i.e., the Allies were defeated by Germany and Japan in World War II. It focuses on the U.S. during the early 1960s. I don't know if you'd like it, but WDW and I were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. I'd like to be involved in your book club, but my time to read for pleasure is limited because of the time I spend reading for work.

Love,
Janie

No TV in my house!

Sorry about not voting for a book but I recently read Middlemarch and don't fancy any of the others.

Hi Janie, no problems about the book club. We did start watching man in the high castle, then I lost what was happening. Sets you a bit on edge doesnt it. When she was working in the diner I thought she was done for early on!!!

Hello Toffeeapple, I think you have said before that you dont have a TV. Do you watch anything online?

No problems with the book club, only a few people put a title forward in the comments previously. I searched on Google for the top classic books and added in Lolita, although further down the list it was suggested. Join in when a book that you like the look of comes up. :)

I'm looking forward to TWD, who's it going to be??!!

We don't have a TV, but keep up to date with things via the internet and YouTube. The only series I have recently watched is The Great British Bake Off, apart from that I just browse YT and see what comes up.
AS for the book club....I no longer read novels, only non fiction. This is because once I find it hard to read a novel....either it is so well written that I keep re reading paragraphs because I am so inspired with the quality of the writing, or I find the writing abysmal.... I remember trying to read Harry Potter and not getting beyond the third page because I thought it was so badly written! Hope the book club thrives though.

Hi vera, no problem. You need to watch some Father Ted! ha ha love that programme

oh I always loved House of Elliot. And back in the day, when Howard's Way came on, then I knew it was about to get chilly outside.

Right now I am loving The Apprentice. I know lots of people hate it, but I love it! Cracks me up! :O)
