Chateau Chantilly #2

Hi there sorry for the absence.  life got in the way, you know the story.

I haven't tinkered with any pictures so please excuse the quality.  My baby, my poor DSLR has died.  Who knew after 11 faithful years of service to me, that there is an actual number of photo clicks you can make and it then decides enough is enough.

Whilst I decide what camera to buy, I am using a Panasonic compact.  Apparently it is really painful to watch me use it.  Lol .  I just think everyone is used to seeing me toting a huge Nikon D90.  The extension of my body is now a tiny thing.

Lets look at a photo dump of Chateau Chantilly shall we?

Enjoy and sorry the pics are a little washed out.  There are lots, I will do a few each day.

Chateau Chantilly

I found on trip adviser that some one said Chateau Chantilly was like a little Versailles with out all the tourist.  Seeing as it was a unplanned flying visit to France, we didn't really have time for places where there would be lots of queues, other than at Merlin's Castle.  I will get to that in another post.  Before I show you any of the UNBELIEVABLY beautiful gardens or views, I wanted to show you the one room that made my heart beat faster.

I love a good book.  I think being able to read is the biggest most important thing a parent can teach their child.  You can learn so much, teach yourself a new language, how to cook, where to go... the list is endless.  Reading, yes, I have a love affair with books.  Be they paper, or little electrons bouncing in my Kindle.

I give you the library.  I apologise about the pictures.  Like the National Trust in the UK, you weren't allowed a flash.  Enjoy...

it was a little bit Hogwarts...  Love Harry Potter, yes I do

Hand written manuscripts.  My face was pressed against the glass for these beauties.  I can imagine a Monk, slumped over his desk writing this in the bitter cold, by candle light.

Exquisite isn't it?  Love, love, loved it.

I am currently reading Made from Scratch by Jenna (Love her blog, I have a very small case of  Barnheart) and also The Museum of Innocence.

Do you love a good book?  What are you reading right now?

Pierrefonds, France

Pierrefonds Castle/Merlins Castle from the TV series

The grass on the right is the lower gardens of the Castle.  How cool would it be to live in these houses!?>????>?>>?

Antiques shop, right next to the Castle.

I wonder if people buy this stuff it was all pretty rusty.  The brown planks at the back have holes at an angle so maybe they are for wine bottles...?

More rusty stuff with huge price tags!  lol

A bottle and jar dryer.  From the old days, when it was necessity not eco-friendly to recycle.

Tourist land train

view from the high street

picture to prove not all French ladies are chic!  Trust me they aren't!

'It is I, Le Clerc', I love allo allo.  Apparently I sound like the policeman in this programme when I attempt to speak French

Pedalos

Fresh Baguettes it was lunch time after all.  And another French lady, who isn't so chic.  I will allow the ballet flats but the leggings?  Never!  and the dress had a hole in the frill at the front

The Creperie terrace.  I love Brittany and its crepes.  The buckwheat ones are delicious in Roscoff.  Yum yum nom nom
