Sheep Like Looking at Modern Art as Well

Out in the sticks in the {Dumfries and Galloway}, in the low land Scottish country side there are many things to look at that are beautiful, breath taking and picturesque.

Dumfries and Galloways also has some hidden secrets, not only the some of the best fishing and shooting spots, but modern art and a {Buddhist temple}.

In the hills covered in pine trees, along country roads you will think you have gone through a portal and arrived on the other side of the planet, where out of no where, there will be streaming prayer flags blowing in the wind.  And a huge, golden Buddha, with a snakes head as a halo.

The Temple is beautiful and vibrant in colour.

What else can you find in the countryside?  Why modern art in the form of {sculptures} of course...

So there you go, things in unexpected places.

Have you come across things in unlikely places?

The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

(Food Critic - Matthew Fort asleep July 2009 Inverness Airport)

On Christmas Eve I found myself in Staples before going to the cinema to watch the Hobbit.  To some people this is strange...  Christmas Eve looking at office supplies?

I will admit, loud and proud that I have a note book problem.  And a nice pen problem.  I don't really ever use them.  But I stash them.  I normally use one on each of my holidays.  Especially when sailing.

I note down all the places visited, how much it cost to get in, marks out of ten etc  Then at the back of the book upside down I list all the food and drink eaten that day and the prices.  I also mark the food out of 10.  Restaurant critic I am not, but I still do it.  Half the time I am not even sure where I put the book after, it whittles the hours away when on a sun lounger and keeps tabs on my spending.

I am secretly hankering after the Martha Stewart range I saw.  I feel compelled and am talking my inner self into the need for the emergency number wipe board.  Why?  I have no idea.  Do you have any stationery secrets?

St Stephen's Day

Scotland July 2009

 {St Stephen's Day}, is also known in England as {Boxing day}.

Boxing Day, is always a day that I spend getting ready for the road trip to Scotland.  I thought that I best do some things I haven't done before.

So this year I'm going to Edinburgh and staying in a lovely hotel.  I can then partake of the {Hogmanay} Festivities.

The weather is still really awful at present and after this afternoons rain, where you couldn't see outside the window (think looking through a waterfall), I am sure we are going to be wet through.

Having seen the fireworks and the countdown, I think it is going to be an experience not to be missed.  Once in a life time.  London is super packed and you have to stand by the Thames from stupido clock, I am hoping this will be a little more civilised.  With a concert in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle.  I cant wait!!!

I will of course take a squillion pictures, as always.

I hope everyone has had a great Christmas, ours has been quiet, just as we wanted.

21 December 2012

Well it is now 11.16am and the TV is still working, my laptop still works, the Mother ship hasn't arrived for me.

So now what?  I just read somewhere that I now have to wait till midnight...  *le sigh*

Will update later.  No doubt some one will claim there is a new date for the end of the world.

Its the end of the world as we know it....

Its the end of the world as we know it....

I FEEL FIIIIIIIIIINE.

Sing along with me.

Tomorrow seems to be some magical day where the Mayan calendar stops.  And we are either going to go bang or the Mother ship is going to come back and collect us.

Not sure what I think about all of this.  Only that today has been quite a good day.  Moved desk so a new start in the new year, got to go home early, dinner half made so an easy one tonight.  Meet OH at the door with a huge hug.

Half an hour later the following statement was made, "I really love coming home to you.  I forget to tell you that.  It is really nice to be greeted at the door with a hug". {thanks Gretchen, your book is helping}.

All round this has been a good day.  If it is the end, it was a good one.
