Hogmanay Edinburgh - Part 2 Torchlight Procession
Hogmanay Edinburgh - Part 2
Torchlight Procession - Son et Lumiere Finale
Having looked at pictures of previous years I wanted to see this. To be truthful it wasn't that great. It was freezing cold. And with out realising I chose what would appear to be the worst area to stand to see the procession. (Gosh that sounds negative, but I want to paint the real picture, not all events go as you think they will. keeping it real. Moving on...)
Having spoken to others we should have stayed at the entrance to Calton Hill, the procession would have gone right by us. I chose to stand near the bonfire, (that wouldn't burn as it had rained). Lesson learned, if I go again, don't go up to the monuments watch it all on the big screens in the streets.
Here are the pictures...
This is a free family event. The fire works were good, if I had a family and lived there I would go but I would stand in the street, and not go the extra, up the hill to the monuments.
in short here are the tips
I hope this helps someone.

The Monument
The pipers
Some of the candle bearers
The Vikings, I think there may have been 9 of them. And to me they looked like they were dressed as Romans.
It was very busy
Lighting the 2012, marked the start of Hogmanay
2013 was then set on fire, this needed some help as it wasn't burning
After what seemed like an age, the fireworks started.
This is a free family event. The fire works were good, if I had a family and lived there I would go but I would stand in the street, and not go the extra, up the hill to the monuments.
in short here are the tips
- Where {Calton Hill} is, go a little further up, there is a big screen opposite {St Andrews House}.
- If you go to the monuments wear wellies
- take a torch
- make sure you have your hat and gloves you will be stood still for a long time.
I hope this helps someone.

1st January 2013
I hope you all had an amazing day yesterday and have woken with vibrancy today. New Years Resolutions are normally made and broken and all good intentions vanish.
So instead of Resolutions, how about a bucket list of things you would like to do this year?
1. I would like to visit Barcelona
2. Move towards a new job
3. Move house if possible
4. Start my own sideline business to top up money
5. Every 2 months try something new
What are your top 5 things you would like to do?

Sheep Like Looking at Modern Art as Well
Out in the sticks in the {Dumfries and Galloway}, in the low land Scottish country side there are many things to look at that are beautiful, breath taking and picturesque.
Dumfries and Galloways also has some hidden secrets, not only the some of the best fishing and shooting spots, but modern art and a {Buddhist temple}.
In the hills covered in pine trees, along country roads you will think you have gone through a portal and arrived on the other side of the planet, where out of no where, there will be streaming prayer flags blowing in the wind. And a huge, golden Buddha, with a snakes head as a halo.

The Temple is beautiful and vibrant in colour.

What else can you find in the countryside? Why modern art in the form of {sculptures} of course...
So there you go, things in unexpected places.
Have you come across things in unlikely places?

The Pen is Mightier than the Sword
On Christmas Eve I found myself in Staples before going to the cinema to watch the Hobbit. To some people this is strange... Christmas Eve looking at office supplies?
I will admit, loud and proud that I have a note book problem. And a nice pen problem. I don't really ever use them. But I stash them. I normally use one on each of my holidays. Especially when sailing.
I note down all the places visited, how much it cost to get in, marks out of ten etc Then at the back of the book upside down I list all the food and drink eaten that day and the prices. I also mark the food out of 10. Restaurant critic I am not, but I still do it. Half the time I am not even sure where I put the book after, it whittles the hours away when on a sun lounger and keeps tabs on my spending.
I am secretly hankering after the Martha Stewart range I saw. I feel compelled and am talking my inner self into the need for the emergency number wipe board. Why? I have no idea. Do you have any stationery secrets?

Well it is now 11.16am and the TV is still working, my laptop still works, the Mother ship hasn't arrived for me.
So now what? I just read somewhere that I now have to wait till midnight... *le sigh*
Will update later. No doubt some one will claim there is a new date for the end of the world.
