Having zoomed in the tail number is I think XH558. And googling this says it is an Avro Vulcan.

The man down the road who used to be a RAF Pilot, said that it goes some where around here for maintenance some times, (I have no idea if that is true). Mystery solved.

Hey Tom, on that news link on the previous post, it looks like it had been grounded, due to a problem with the nose wheel. Which is the noise when it first came round frightened the life out of me as I didnt know what the hell it was. And no joke you could feel it vibrating through your body... and I dont mean in a rude way. pounding in your chest. it was so low, you can see by the pictures. In another post they were saying about how expensive it was to fix and maintain.
All those poor people who bought tickets for the show in Leceistershire will have missed out on seeing it before it is grounded for good at the end of the year.
But it looks like it is up and running for Goodwood and Old Sarum, today. I've added some links above for more info. Its a beauty, for sure.
As a small child, I went to see the Vulcan at Farnborough Air show when it was new. The near vertical take-off was - as you say - a punch in the guts.

A B-17 Flying Fortress once flew over my house here. What a charge that was!
You must have one heck of a camera or computer or something to be able to take a picture of an aircraft in flight and blow it up to read the side number!
Hey Harry, I have a Nikon D90 that was bought 2nd hand. 12 mega pixels. Most cameras are more powerful than that now. But I have no need to project my pictures on to the side of a building so unless it breaks this is it for a long time.
Watching planes is something primal. The want to fly like a bird maybe. Battle of Britain this week. The TV is going to be full of planes. And all the Hurricanes and Spitfires they can get together, flying once again. Now that will be a sight!
