Fig

Went to see my cousin.  I came face to face with the fig nicker.  He is really vicious.  He is a refugee of the recession and bank crash.  His days will be numbered if he keep flying up at peoples faces and rushing anyone getting out of a car or chasing cars and tractors.  He wouldn't let us in to the office.

Pea brain.

(p.s. saw a dirty great rat about 2 seconds after this picture. *shudder*)

"You dirty rat". Apparently James Cagney never actually said that. Rats are one downside to living on a smallholding, Sol. We have a ratter (terrier) and cat (mouser) to keep them at bay. They are horrible. I would fight a lion before I would fight a rat. May be not!

He is pretty, the chickens hate him. that is probably only the 3rd rat I have seen there. I think the cats and dogs do a good job for the size of farm it is.

Look at that tiny little head, you're right it does have a pea brain.

I can never understand why they like to stand on narrow railings and fences. Balance must be enough of a challenge as it is.

We had one of those show up here out of the blue. Since we live on a mountain top, in the middle of a forest, and have no neighbors. I never figured out where he came from. He walked around and ate the chicken feed for about a week, pooped on my jeep, and generally made himself a pain in the rear. Then one day he just left. Hope he found somewhere nice to live, though.

He's pretty though. That lovely blue plumage.

There can't be many blues in the natural world that are as 'royal' as that blue. It's extraordinary and, dare I say, beautiful.

Hey Jessica, he likes to stand there so he can peck at your face and go for the eyes. He isn't stupid. Maximum damage.

Harry they are rather odd animals. As you know as soon as you scatter corn or feed all birds come running. Not this one. He expects you to put it in a bowl as close as you can get to him. No way, I left it on the floor and walked off! lol

Nick he is nice to look at. But I hope when my cousin and his family go on holiday next year he is gone. He wasn't there when we Farm sat or when we did lambing. They are trying to rehome him, but he is bad tempered and you cant send him anywhere with smaller dogs. He takes great offence to small dogs.

Ray he really is pretty, but it masks a lot of anger. I have never seen a bird like it. If my grandparents were still on the farm I dare say he would of "wandered off". I.e he got the chop. he is actually dangerous near the kids. The vet says he is old. So we will admire him for a while. He likes the sheep. I think it is because they huddle together and are warm. Sheep are stupid, they probably think he is a sheep.
