Parliment House Hotel, Edinburgh

Parliment House Hotel, Edinburgh, December 2012

I have had the pleasure of staying here twice now.  The hotel is at the top of Calton Hill, about 5 mins walk from the train station if you are a slow walker like me.

Lets look at the insides and the room we had this time.  It was a lot smaller than the last one and that made me a little bummed.  But, well there you go.  When I stay anywhere I like to check trip advisor, but I am also loving how Pioneer Woman takes pictures of all the hotels she stays in on her book tour.  I find this really helpful and if I go to America I will for sure check her website to see if she has stayed in a hotel I like.

Now, let look at the pictures shall we? Big photo dump coming up...

Sorry about the flash this is an old lift that doesn't work, it looks quite pretty

Thistle wall paper

Close up of the reading light.  I would like this in my next house...

Kettle in the bottom drawer below the TV.

Wardrobe, in side was a trouser press.

View from the window, very rusty looking walkway...?

Loving the detail on the curtains

The bits in the bathroom

So there you go.  Would I stay again.  YES.  it is super central you can walk everywhere from there.  It is a good price for the location.  The food is the only really bad point about this place.  I have never had wet haggis for breakfast in my life, I have eaten quite a lot of haggis over the years in lots of different places.  This is not a good example and if people are put off by it after eating it here, I completely understand.  Do not go here for the food.  That is all I am say.

The rooms both of the times I have stayed have been spotless.  The bathroom was a let down this time as it was clear from the marks on the bath tub that it had previously had a shower screen, the silicon was still on the bath and where it had been left was getting a bit gross.  Nothing that the maintenance team couldn't sort out with a scrapper and a bit of time.

For the price of the room I think this is an amazing hotel.

Marks out of 10?  8.5.

I would stay again in a heart beat

EDIT, these are the only 2 pictures I have of the other bedroom I stayed in before this visit.  Unfortunately this doesn't how much bigger the room was.

Room looks nice, but only one bedside table would really annoy me (unless I was on my own, of course!)

the previous room I stayed it was probably half the size again bigger. it was new years eve, so I think they were full. I would stay again as it is so central and easy to get to. Everyone says to me "stay in the old town". And I am like "nah, why would I, it is more expensive there and I can walk to the old town in 10 minutes and stay for half the price". Means I have more money left over for the good things like lovely food. Ha ha

I will look and see if I can find the pictures of the other room. I will post them if I find them.
