Notting Hill

The lady in the shop was lovely.  I bought the book, Thrive, by Arianna Huffington, the lady who started the Huffington post.

When I look at all these pictures I really miss living in London, the ease of getting about and seeing so many wonderful things.  More councils should run their public transport like London does.

These bring back pleasant memories of when I lived in London over 20 years ago, just for a few years. I knew Notting Hill quite well though don't recall that particular book-shop. There used to be a very nice art-house cinema in the area which I think is still there (The Gate?) in which one could be guaranteed on seeing a 'celebrity' or two making an entrance or exit.
You're right, though. Nowhere is quite like London but, by golly, one needs the money to enjoy all what it has to offer! Even truer now, I imagine, than before.

Hey Ray, the book shop was named something else previously.

True enough you have to pay to stay some where. but once I am there I can find lots to do even if it is just wandering. I do that in Bath. that is free.

You can't beat cities for public transport, can you Sol? I would love a bus or tram to take me into town. Rural public transport is getting rare. I loved the Notting Hill Film.

Dave, I use public transport all the time for small trips when raining I am usually off on my push bike but the forks are bent and I am hoping that someone will go to France and bring me back a bike. they are a third of the price over there... ho hum. I have a little car I just dont use it much. Hence it is 12 years old and only done 40k miles.... that is like 3k a year or something, they say 12k is the average. perfectly good little car I lived in London for a lot of that time...

Hey John I love the film.

Susie *giggle*

We could do with 'Oyster' type cards here, I'm always scrabbling around for change for the bus. If you don't have the right money....tough.

Chickpea, that is a good idea. and to expand on that it should be a universal card that works on all public transport. We have a card here, you put money on it and then it takes the exact money off just like the Oyster card. A universal one would help in holiday/tourist areas to get people off the road driving and on to public transport freeing up the country roads and making them less dangerous.

I use public transport probably 3 or 4 times a week now I am not working. I have to stop using my car. Since my bike forks are bent I have been naughty and used the car. and you know what? I have put 4 lb on in weight. nearly 2 kilos! my frame and height cant take that and neither can my wardrobe. I refuse to buy new clothes. its coming off! lol

You should contact your local MP, they are involved with the council who does the tenders for the buses etc. Dont ask dont get
