Whats for dinner?

After nearly 7 weeks not eating meat, the Mr said he would like something meaty and tasty...

I have some beef mince in the freezer so I took to Google.  "what dinner can I make with beef mince?", I asked it.  It brought up thousands of entries about spaghetti.  Le sigh.  Boring.  Then after reading {Dani's post today} about dolmades, I thought what about Greek...  So Pastisio it is, {I will use this recipe}.

Lets see what he thinks of this.  I think we will even try and eat outside.  I studied outside yesterday.  It was lovely.

Tomorrow I am hoping to get to Lidl to buy some of the Greek meze bits that they have on this weeks offer.

I havent left the house since Saturday.  My Sister offered the advice of joining the local WI.  The last time I tried that I was the youngest there, (in a completely different town).  Everyone else was in their 80's.  I hope with the revival of it all and retro chic that there maybe someone my age or younger.  I am scared of the natives you see.  I spoke to a lady with a little dog at the post box last week and she referred to us as the "incomers" in the bungalow.  My heart sank a little at that.  She also said that someone had told her our names and she thought I was a man.  Thinking my name was short for Solomon.  "Sorry", I said and turned to go.  "I have potatoes on the stove".  I didnt have any potatoes cooking, but I didnt know what to say.  And her parting shot shouted at me was "I hope you are going to do something about that tree".

Beam me up Scotty.

Is there a library near you Sol? They usually display groups on their notice boards. Or perhaps you could go to a local church or the pub. I am sure you will meet new friends soon. Wish we had something near us.

hey Dave, once ive finished my exams im going to start applying for jobs. I am hoping to go on a few of the guided walks around here. find people with the same interests. I havent been out of my bike. I will feel better when I do. But I have to wait in for deliveries and building materials. I am tied to the house at the moment.

Glad to have been of assistance with your (mince) meal :)

Yeah, small towns and villages can take a while to "accept" newcomers / incomers (even here) but once you're "in", they're a wonderful bunch. John, of Going Gently has some excellent tales of life in his Welsh village :)

Lady doesn't sound like the kind of person you'd want to be friends with anyway. Your idea about guided walks is a good one.

Always takes a while to get bedded into an area. What about a gardening club or something? What age group are btw without being too cheeky. You can bracket to the nrarest 10 years if you like!

Hey Kev this year I am 37. Hurtling towards 40. I felt about 6 when that woman spoke to me. I walked off like an idiot. The tree everyone is on about it a huge HUGE walnut tree.

I might also see about a book club. I dont even mind going to the next village if I have too. they seem to be a little younger and a little nicer... dare I say it. I went to their plant sale, bought too many things for my bike and they made 2 of the Cubs follow me on their bikes with the rest of my swag. lol
