Happy New Year! I'm asking this way late in the game, but is Sol pronounced Sole or Saul? This might be hard to work out because of the accent thing...
And to you too, Sol (This is a 'ditto' of my response to your comment on my own blog). We had a lengthy downpour starting about 11.30 last night, which woke me up (rather than any fireworks), as I'd gone to bed at my usual 9.30. Needless to say it put a damper on most of the bangs and whistles, which was much more acceptable to the pussies as well as to me.

say parasol. and that is how it is pronounced.
Sol is Scandinavian and Mediterranean for Sun or Sun Goddess
