I have often said before that if we had children I would be a Tiger Mum. My own parents were very relaxed and although everyone thought that was cool at the time. From me now having to go back to school to try and better myself, there is that nagging feeling that I wish I had been pushed really hard at school.
When I {read things like this}, it makes me think that a balance of Tiger Mum and chief cheerleader could be the way to go.

LOL - RMan was the playful one in our family. I found out when our kids were in their late teens that they used to call me the Enforcer...
I think that would also be how it would be if we had children. The Enforcer sounds harsh, but I bet they knew exactly where they stood with you. Personally I respond well when given guidelines. Else I think everything is left a little bit to much to chance for me.
I also hate tardy people. Being late winds the hell out of me. Guess this says a lot about my personality
My mother never gave a stuff about my school work
I wish she would have cared
Hey John. Unfortunately I think being one of many in a house seems to mean that somethings are left and other things worried about. Not that I ever did really badly at school but I don't ever remember being spoken to about my school report.
I remember one friends parents having a huge talk with her as she had a C in one subject and they were devastated. lol I think my parents wished I had C's. lol
John you have a super job and all of your volunteer work, is extremely worth while. Maybe it is just both of our sets of parents are of that ilk that were more reserved. You do an amazing job! ;) I think your fab.
I asked my son what kind of mom I am...he said, "Immature."
I am.
Susie better to be immature than not present at all.
Am going to ask my son what sort of mum I am over dinner. I suspect the words 'strict' and 'fussy' will be invoked in his reply!
Hey Caroline, I think the word strict could be thought of in adult terms as heavily involved. He will thank you for it. Your Will does really well at school. So you must be doing something right.
