Carlisle Cathedral


Carlisle Cathedral is stunning.

I wonder how old that is. (I could look it up). Not very old, I suspect, though very impressive all the same.
Of course the vast majority of stained glass windows in this country was destroyed after the English Civil War when Cromwell's henchmen, with all the zealotry of today's Mujahadeen, smashed it in the belief that God (their version of) didn't approve. One of the greatest tragedies of our art-history.
